spxlHexagramMoire : Source & effect for Resolume by subpixel (v260126-2052)
Price in AUD (Australian Dollars).
A set of animated hexagrams with distance lines that create hypnotic moire patterns.
spxlHexagramMoire is an abstract image/texture generator for Resolume (Avenue and Arena). The hexagram (6-pointed star) is the base shape, and moire is a kind of interference pattern produced by overlapping textures.
Two plugins included:
- spxlHexagramMoire : Wire source for Resolume (Windows and macOS).
- spxlHexagramMoire+ : Wire effect for Resolume (Windows and macOS).
The two types have the same appearance and animation parameters, the difference being that the effect can be stacked anywhere effects can be applied: on a clip, layer, group, or the composition. The effect has additional mix mode and opacity parameters to control how the generated pattern is mixed with the input texture. This functions slightly differently to the blend mode and opacity parameters that appear at the top of every effect in Resolume, notably at the 0% and 100% extremes for the opacity parameter.
Wire plugins don't work if the plugin creation version is higher than the version of Resolume, which is why I provided a legacy build (for Resolume v7.4, the first version to support Wire). You cannot use both Wire versions of the same plugin (eg the Source) at the same time as they have the same plugin identifier.
Parameters
- Count : number of hexagrams (not meaningful in v7.1.4 plugins, which have a fixed count of 5)
- Thickness : thickness of the lines
- Color : color of the lines
- Y Time : period (in seconds) of vertical oscillation
- Rot Time : period (in seconds) of rotation cycle (the rotation oscillates between clockwise and anticlockwise)
- Dist Time : period (in seconds) of line distance cycle
- Dist Amp : amplitude of line distance cycle
- Dist Offset : minimum line distance
- Mix Mode : the blend mode for mixing the pattern with the input texture (effect plugin only)
- Mix Opacity : the opacity for the mixing (effect plugin only)
The filename for each Wire plugin indicates the version of Wire used to compile the plugin, and the end of the filenames have a file version made from the date and time. The plugins with "-id" after the wire version identify the version in the name displayed in Resolume, eg spxlHexagramMoire 7.1.4 instead of just spxlHexagramMoire.
eg spxlHexagramMoire+wire-7.4.1-id_v260131-2359.cwired
- compiled with Resolume Wire version 7.4.1; version number in the display name
- on date in YYMMDD format: 31 Jan 2026
- at time in HHMM format (24-hour clock): 23:59 (11:59PM)
Minimum host requirement: Resolume v7.4.1 (Windows and macOS)
Compiled with Resolume Wire v7.4.1, v7.23.2 (Win11).
Tested with Resolume Arena v7.4.1, 7.23.2 (Win11).
