spxlAutoMask : Effect for Resolume by subpixel (v260126-1914)
Price in AUD (Australian Dollars).
spxlAutoMask is an alternative to the Auto Mask effect that comes with Resolume (Avenue and Arena). It creates transparency based on individual pixel brightness, something like a luma key, respecting existing alpha channel values.
Resolume's Auto Mask effect tends to make most colours, especially blues, washed out or weak, even with the Contrast parameter set to maximum. The Red/Green/Blue Channel options do not seem to produce sensible results either.
spxlAutoMask will give you your blues back and also avoid some unpleasant fringing effects that can appear with high Contrast settings for Resolume's Auto Mask. The spxlAutoMask default settings produce mostly better results than any Auto Mask setting, and tuning the Upper and Lower parameters can produce much better results for many image content scenarios.
Parameters
- Lower : pixels with color brightness lower than this will be made completely transparent; think of as the "black point"
- Upper : pixels with color brightness higher than this will not be made (more) transparent than they already are; think of as the "white point"
Two types of plugins included:
- Resolume Wire effects (Windows and macOS)
- Resolume FFGL effect (Windows only)
There are several variations of the Wire plugin, but you should use just one as they all have the same plugin identifier.
If the Wire version number is higher than your version of Resolume, it will probably not work, which is why I have provided a legacy version (Resolume v7.4 was the first version with Wire plugins).
The filename for each Wire plugin indicates the version of Wire used to compile the plugin, and the end of the filenames have a file version made from the date and time. The plugins with "-id" after the wire version identify the version in the name displayed in Resolume, eg spxlAutoMask 7.1.4 instead of just spxlAutoMask.
eg spxlAutoMask-wire-7.4.1_v260131-2359.cwired
- compiled with Resolume Wire version 7.4.1
- on date in YYMMDD format: 31 Jan 2026
- at time in HHMM format (24-hour clock): 23:59 (11:59PM)
Minimum host requirement: Resolume v7.4.1 (Windows and macOS)
Compiled with Resolume Wire v7.4.1, v7.23.2 (Win11).
Tested with Resolume Arena v7.4.1, 7.23.2 (Win11); v7.13.2 (macOS).
